Friday seems to be blog day for me. So, as it's Friday, here I am.. blogging! I've been working on a big custom order for a lovely customer who wanted Super Mario Brothers beads. Yes, as in the Nintendo game. I've been working on the order quite steadily and then another wonderful customer placed a custom order for a bunch of beads and, well, I was a bit overwhelmed this week! So I've been working my tail off as I was determined to have the orders finished this week. I managed to get them finished yesterday so I was really pleased.
Next week I won't have any new beads for sale since I've been doing nothing but custom work this week. But I'll work hard to make lots of new beads so I'll have something new to show the following week. I'm still pretty stuck on Christmas beads but I'll try to make beads in colours other than red, white and green next week.. lol.
I'm off now to curl up with my doggies, Piglet and Bun-Bun, a nice cup of tea and a trashy 'paranormal romance' (hahaha.. I love the names people give this stuff!) book.
Have a great weekend!
Love,
keiara
Hi guys. Wow, sorry I've been quiet and haven't listed any beads for sale. I have trouble with daily, chronic Tension-Type Headaches and Migraine disease and, right now, it's kicking my butt.
I've managed to almost finish a big custom order I've been working on but I haven't made any new beads for sale. I'm sorry! Luckily I ordered lots of new books from amazon and I've been camped out on my couch reading wonderfully trashy paranormal romance novels. Heehee. Ooh and I also received two books by one of my favourite authors, Jacqueline Carey. They came in yesterday and I'm overjoyed. Now if I could just shake this damn head pain..
I had an excellent Halloween though. My mother shipped over some special ingredients for my family secret recipe chocolate cake and I went to town making cupcakes. I also made a small batch of fairy cakes as one of the girls at Steve's office doesn't like chocolate (*SHOCKHORROR*). So Halloween day found me all gothed-out in black and purple (okok, I always wear all black, but I'll pretend it was a Halloween thing) with the cutest headband that had purple, sparkly bat-topped antennae. I had on all my handmade Halloween jewellery too, naturally. I brought half the cupcakes to Steve's work along with a jack-o-lantern bucket full of chocolates and assorted sweets. Needless to say I think everyone was happy to see me, regardless of my childish.. err cute.. headband. I also brought a tray of cupcakes and sweets over to my in-laws' house and stopped for a chat. I followed Steve home after work and when we arrived home there were already trick-or-treaters out! I ran into the house and threw all my stuff down and didn't even have time to take off my shoes before the doorbell started ringing! I absolutely LOVE Halloween and trick-or-treaters and I defy anyone to gaze into the happy face of a toddler, all dressed up in their costume, lisping, "Twick-ah-tweat" to NOT love it.
Anyway, I had a great night greeting all the kids in costume and one group of teenaged girls exclaimed over my American accent and my tattoos and told me they liked me and would come back next year. See? What's not to like, I ask you?? Steve and I curled up and watched.. something that was supposed to be scary.. not that I can remember what at the moment.. lol. All in all it was a great night and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
The next morning I was excitedly dancing around my kitchen to George Michael tunes (yeah, so what??) whilst cleaning and trying to distract myself from the time. I was beside myself with anticipation because my wonderful friends, Laura and Shaun, were arriving in the afternoon! Oh happy day! So I cleaned and I danced and I drove Steve mad with my incessant, happy chatter. They arrived right on time and I plied them with cupcakes and donuts and chocolates and all manner of sweets. On Sunday I cooked a HUGE breakfast and we all sat around laughing and talking for ages afterwards. Next thing I knew it was time for them to get back to the train station. I nearly cried when hugging Laura goodbye but kept myself under control. I consoled myself with the knowledge that they'll be back at Christmastime and for a longer stay as well. So roll on Christmas! It will be a wonderful time as I'll have Kaia here and she's really looking forward to meeting them and vice versa. Don't you love the holidays?
Hopefully my head will lighten up this weekend and I'll have a bit of fun. We don't have any plans except to watch Shoot 'Em Up on blu-ray and probably munch on kebabs.. heehee.
Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday! It's been a bit of an odd week for me. Monday I had an admin day and didn't make any beads. Tuesday I had to run some errands and then thought, what the heck, I'll go visit Steve at work in Tenterden. This proved to be quite fun as I spent some time with his parents whom I love to pieces :) While I was there I mentioned to Steve that my car was acting a bit funny. It's an old Clio that we bought purely so I could familiarise myself with driving over here (SCARY!!). When I came back from my in-laws' house, Steve announced that he'd found me a new car! We went straight over to have a look and a test drive and it was perfect. This meant that Wednesday I had to go back up to Tenterden to pick up my new car. It's an electric blue Nissan Micra and I loooooooove it :) It's so cute and lots of fun to drive. I only drive automatics over here (it's just too damn hard to drive on the wrong side of the road, sit on the wrong side of the car AND shift with the wrong hand, sorry!!) so it's difficult to find me a good car that fits my needs. Thank you, Steve! He's the bestest hubby ever, I swear.
Anyway! So what does this mean to all of you? Basically it means that I only torched yesterday and I don't have a lot to sell this week. Sorry :( The good news is that I have one FAB set of Christmas Lentils that I really like the look of (please see above.. heh). I may tweak my Rudolph a bit though.
OH! Ok so most of you probably know that I'm originally from Florida and I've only been here for 3 years. Well, it'll be 3 years on November 27th anyhow. One of the funniest things for me is that I learn something new, usually a slang term, pretty much daily. It's a source of much laughter when I learn the new thing. On Wednesday my new thing was that 'Father Christmas' (even that makes me giggle as we say Santa) lives in Lapland. The land of laps. It should have been obvious as I could see why the man who takes children onto his lap to ask for presents would live in Lapland. However, this was not the case. You see, Santa lives in the North Pole. Before Wednesday I'd never even HEARD of Lapland! True story. Laugh all you want, I did.
Regardless of the fact that I have little to show for my week, it was a good week and I'm looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend. Last night I bought about 3 tons of chocolate and candy for Halloween (which I'm REALLY looking forward to!). Today I mixed it all together and put half of it in my big jack-o-lantern bucket. On Halloween day I'll be bringing goodies round Steve's work and then on Saturday my looovely friends, Laura and Shaun, come to stay for the weekend! YAY! I'm a happy bunny :)
So what are you up to this weekend? Anything fun? Hope you enjoy it!

I'm finally starting a blog. I'll be using this to talk about beads, current designs, sales and events and whatever else comes to mind :)
Mondays are usually great because: 1. I like getting back to the torch after the weekend and 2. I list beads for sale which normally sell quite well and that makes me happy. But today my migraine is kicking my butt and I'm feeling rather uncreative so I'm using today as an admin and posting day. Don't worry, though, I'll still be listing beads for sale later on!
I'm in the beginning stages of planning my Christmas collection and I have a few sets and focals that will be going up for sale. I really love holiday beads as they make me giggle while I make them :) My Halloween beads were a HUGE hit and I even made myself enough beads for a bracelet, pendant and pair of earrings. I'm so excited that I've already started wearing them (hey, it IS October, alright?) and the very first time I went out wearing the jewellery I received a compliment. It's such a great feeling to receive compliments when you've made something with your own two hands. I love it :)
In the upcoming week I'll have more new Christmas beads for sale including more whimsical designs. Last week I made more 'grown-up' (haha) sets and they were well-received but I really prefer the cutesy beads. I'm never growing up, I swear! If you have any ideas or suggestions on Christmas beads, feel free to email me. I love hearing what you think!
Today I'm finally mailing out the Halloween jewellery I made for my daughter and my mother. I know, I know, I should've mailed it sooner as it takes about a week for mail to reach Florida. I'm sure it will still get there in time though. I made my daughter, Kaia, an adorable bat pendant and a little pair of mini ghost earrings. My mother is a kindergarten teacher (5 year olds) and her classroom theme is bears. Bearing (haha, get it, bearing?) that in mind, I made her a witchy bear pendant and little bear ghost earrings. They came out so cute! I should have taken pictures but I didn't.. as usual. I suck at remembering to photograph things!
Today is Mexican Monday at my house so I'm looking forward to a festive dinner. I had to practically force my hubby, Steve, to try Mexican food but now he absolutely loves it. He normally reminds ME that it's Mexican Monday.. LOL!
Hope you're having a wonderful Monday (Mexican or not) :) New beads tonight!
